We all need to adapt and overcome the obstacle. It is easy to become complacent with our current skill set or design comfort zone. Markets change. At times its a buyers market; other times its a sellers market. We as designers should include ourselves in that change as well and experiment with other file types. If all you know is designing flyers then, quite honestly, you’re only hurting yourself by staying one-dimensional. I will be the first to say I’m trying to learn other things such as brochure design, mix-tape design, even psd web design layouts. As a person who used to work sales for several companies there was a simple saying about making money – “You live by the door and you’ll die by the door.” So basically, if you just wait for sales to come to you, then expect to experience the highs and lows of that decision. It is best to jump out of the comfort zone. You’ll not only learn new things about what is out there in the world, but you’ll grow as a person and designer. Just my two cents. I wish everyone the best of luck.

In November – Dicember 2011 i spent like $300 on stocks i wanted to use in my flyers, i was prepring myseft for the christmas season. I designed 7 flyers with those stocks and all those 7 flyers were hard rejected. I was 10x angrier than you, believe me, but i didnt give up and now i have 100 files in my portfolio and graphicriver is my full time job

Wow! Can’t even think how angry you were. But full time job… sounds great. Maybe you can give me some advice?

If this is your passion, and you want to make this experience work, you need to develop a thick skin and make the file better. None of us like rejections, but it can be a part of your growth process. I got rejected a lot at first, but I was off my game for a while. Now I hardly ever get a hard reject, but if the file isn’t as original and lacking in quality, then that’s what you can expect.

I haven’t seen your file to make a determination, but from my experience; certain items that I thought were awesome (that got rejected) now look like I wasn’t even trying. I fix all of my rejected items and get them approved.

So don’t give up, there’s a lot to gain from being here.
