If an item is mis-advertised, please report it to support. Fullstop.

Ha, yeah right. I’ve reported product before, they “look into it”. Meaning they look into how much money the product will make, they don’t care as long as the product is making money and not more than X% of people are going to cry about it. All they care about is their pockets and we all know it.

There is a terrible problem going on in Envato products recently with mis-advertised pieces of software. There used to be a certain quality to the products that has gone down the hole. HTML Encryptors, really? Don’t tell me theres a market for that stuff. Everybody knows the people who are buying those things are “technology challenged” people who really believe their HTML is going to be encrypted not obfuscated. In fact, “encryption” is the wrong word to use, “Obfuscation” is the right word to use. Another example of misadvertising.

Unfortunately, Envato’s stance on these products has been that there is a market for these products. A market of people who are being misguided into a false sense of security. The people who buy these HTML and Javascript Encryptors, do not know there code is completely insecure. Really all they care about now a days is how well these new-fangled HTML and Javascript encryptors sell.

These products hurt the overall quality of this market. Period.

I had an idea to form a partnership between me, an iOS Native Developer, and a website developer/designer. Basically taking in projects together, and giving out a packaged deal, a website, with a native app to go with it. I’ve done this before and it seems to work well. I’m not much of a website designer/developer so I’d figure I’d let someone else handle that.

Contact me via my profile if interested in something like this and we can discuss qualifications, details, etc.

Thanks!

Because IMHO Titanium is a crap piece of software. I don’t even know why Envato continues to support it just because it involves javascript maybe?

It’s clunky, it’s slow, it’s just plain terrible in implementing iOS functions, not all javascript functions work properly, XML parsing doesn’t work.

And it’s biggest problem of all, and a problem with any sort of model, is that it interprets code at runtime.

Problem with Projects: You don’t learn any real Objective-C/Cocoa/Foundation programming, in a few years Titanium will be nothing, and soon your code will be useless, outdated. You’ll have a hard time finding a developer that will be able to edit your project later. What happens if Titanium drops support, then what?
lol totally agree!! titanium is indeed a piece of crap! they say they’re cross-platform and they aren’t even truly that! you have to develop your apps separately for each platform and their whole api is very buggy. their main focus is clearly to make money out of this whole thing, as fast and as much as they can.
Yep, cross-platform is a joke. Even the API ’s that are supposed to be cross platform crash on one system. I don’t kid when I say it is the IE of mobile apps.

Kind of have to agree. It’s almost like saying:

You are clearly only thinking about ActiveDen with the can you see XXX Flash things on the iPhone? I never shop ActiveDen but I browse all of the other marketplaces daily. (And yes I mean daily) to VIEW things and BOOKMARK items, which does generate sales. Of course I don’t download things to my iPhone, but when I want to check out the marketplaces and I don’t want to use my laptop (and I never do) I use my phone. And I’m not the only one.

Really it’s not that hard creating a marketplace for mobile phones, you are over-estimating the the difficulty and it’s not a native app, so different screen resolutions doesn’t really matter, if you haven’t noticed alot of mobile sites are just fine on different screen resolutions.

All it would take is to use the API to list, popular items, with their thumbnails, and a search function that also lists items. In fact, I’ve seen someone on the forums who did just that and it didn’t take them years to do it.
I do agree with you, but, do you NEED a mobile version? Or just want because it’s cool to use the phone to browse the internet. That is my question for you guys :)

No I don’t need it. But things don’t work right when viewing the site on my phone. The Hover images don’t work, and I have to zoom in constantly, a mobile site would fix that. My point is that it is frankly not that hard to build a mobile site.
