Also using MediaElement, for now all is good. Of course, some problems, but overall I like it.

Most plugins on CC are $10-15, and the extended license is only 5x.

I think I heard this will change soon and extended license will cost more, or there will be more license options. But anyway to include in theme you going to pay more. Not sure when it will happen.

Or can try your luck on CodeCanyon. Think on the idea and write a plugin (jQuery or WP), and if its become popular then you can make nice money for a long time. Of course, a lot of items on CC are not profitable (or low), but if you really come with great idea and item that make life easier for many people then you will succeed.

The current model here at envato encourages us to put our creations in the hands of more people, the more people buy, the more you make. If it were priced higher, less people can afford it, less people engaging with your product reduces the probability of improvements you can add to it, as only a handful will report issues or discover them.

This have a point, but not in this case. Prices on CC are minimal, agree? And in the same time, most of authors are not happy with the sales. I think you will agree too.

So, as was mentioned above, one of the reason of the low price is that there are some alternatives that are freely available. But nobody will buy a premium product if he can replace it with free one and all his needs will be satisfied. Our plugin is top notch, and it is in the niche where you don’t count on 1000+ sales, but for 300-500 maximum. So, the only way to get some money with it is higher price, and the buyers that look for features presented in our plugin, and not in any others.

The whole point of us working on this items was to do Elite item, for the higher price. The model of “cheap > a lot of sales = profit” will not work for most CC items. So, we thinking now to move our product on the separate website and remove it from CC.

Recently we submitted the wp watermark plugin on CC, that take us 6 months to develop! It has everything people asked, million of features that was very hard to implement and nobody offers them on CC or in the wordpress.org plugins directory. So we asked for a higher price compared to the other such items on CC… And you know what – they set the same 20$ as for every other plugins, which are waaaay less powerfull.

So, what is the point to work on CC? No point. This place will turn in the dump of small files like CSS buttons and other snippets for 5$. There is nothing to do there with serious product, if it is not another slider.
