We are working on some better tools to help you support your items, but they’re a little way off yet. If you’re big enough to think about setting up your own forums, I wouldn’t wait around.
We also don’t expect that what we build will be perfect for everyone, so we’re still going to allow people to run their own support systems if they prefer.
Well spotted, Smartik!
Looks like it’s a problem with switching between our old search system (still used for the forums) and our new search system (used for items.)
I’ll make sure it gets fixed.
Everything should be up and running again now.
We’re upgrading one of our search servers, so forum search, and some of our other search capabilities will be off the air for a while.
Searching for items should still work, as it’s running off a newer server anyone.
Sorry for the hassle. I’ll post when things are back up and running.
We’re working on it! It’s a bit of an odd problem, and is proving hard to diagnose.
Sorry for the hassles, and thanks for being patient.
We’re going to take FTP offline shortly, in order to get it set up for the change later in the day.
Don’t panic! It will be back soon.
This was me accidentally introducing a bug. It should be fixed shortly. Thanks for letting us know, and sorry for the hassle.
We’re still having problems with not all items showing up in searches. We’re still looking into it, and I’ll keep you posted.
Things are slowly returning to normal. Searching and browsing on PhotoDune is only showing some of the items, but the rest should appear gradually over the next hour or two.
Here’s the short version of what happened:
We have two servers in charge of search, and each of those has two copies of all the data needed for search. Somehow both copies on the master server got corrupted, and the corruption spread to the other server, leaving us with no working search data at all!
To be clear, all the items are still there, and no data was lost. The problem only affects the indexes we use for search.
We’ll do a post-mortem in the morning and work out what went wrong, and no doubt we’ll add some more safeguards to make sure that this doesn’t happen again.
We’re having some problems with the PhotoDune search system at the moment, which means browsing around PhotoDune is currently broken.
We’re working on the problem, but it might be a little while before it’s all back on the air.
Sorry for the hassle!
