These kind of forum discussions are very useful to market-blind authors like me, so keep them coming. JinWook’s comment about targeting short attention spans, and potential buyers who are maybe not very savvy PS users has got me re-thinking my previews too. I have had GR authors in mind when submitting, but that is going to change, thanks.

I find it quite difficult to figure out the real group you’re targeting… are you targeting other designers looking for quality stock to save some time? Or are you targeting John Doe who has no clue about any of this at all?
Obviously the best is trying to get both of them.
I should add that that’s just presenting your product here… when advertising elsewhere, be sure you target an audience who is actually willing to pay money. That’s one mistake that I made in the past, advertising to a target group that had the right hobby and interest, but was also a target group that wasn’t willing to spend money on those interests, hence I got around 700 clickthroughs and 0 deposits from that. Something to keep in mind!
I think you can get some help from envato analytics about referral and other visitors destination. And obviously that is huge clickthroughs. I usually got 2K or 3K … wishing to get 50K

Yep exactly… it’s hard to explain what is a Photoshop Action and how it works, and why you have to buy mine to both type of users. It’s something really difficult: I was now thinking to open a blog and create video tuts with my bad italian accent, so I can show and acquire new customers, and explain what my stuff does.
Maybe some would like to buy an item, if only he understands why he needs it.
@Wonderart Frankly the only useful infos I can see, is that a lot of buyers search in Google the files they see here, with the word “free”
yes analytics helps me a bit but looking at where do they come from, how many etc… but looking at numbers they don’t make a sum of 50K a month, for sure.
BTW I think Jin Wook spotted the solution… I hate them… I hate to send tons of DMCA

Where exactly ARE those people? Which sites do they visit would you guess, besides GR of course.
