Boring items ?

I’ve been seeing a few comments from people on here lately saying that the items have been getting boring on graphic river. I wouldn’t say items are getting boring, I would say that people are way to use to seeing the same standard type of flyer design, a half nude girl, bright lights and maybe a speaker or disco ball thrown into the mix.

Its not that the designs are getting boring its just that some designers are actually starting to try something new with their designs and applying some creativity, setting them apart from other authors, which is a good thing. I’m not saying all the designs that use a girl or speaker are wrong/bad because I’ve used girls in my work too, I’m just saying that flyer designs are not getting boring or worse its just that some people are to use to seeing the same old flyer designs, so now that people are trying new ideas and styles its just automatically ’’ boring ’’ to some people because it doesn’t contain a nude girl or huge speaker or something else predictable.

No matter what any one says…design wise it has no chance of changing at all man…..I mean even if the same flyer designers make same style flyers…it still gets them the sales they need..so I don’t see a point.

There probably isn’t much chance of things changing, but I’m saying a design isn’t any worse than the next just because it doesn’t use the standard concepts that the other designers use, I’de just class it as them trying out something different but its just the way some people are saying ’’ boring designs ’’ like there’s some type of contract in place that says we HAVE to stick to the speaker/bright lights look, nothing wrong with that look but now and then its good to try and new things.

Taking someone else’s speaker and light effects and slapping on some text ain’t no design anyway so “boring items” are actually designed while “flashy” ones are usually assembled from other people ’s items.

I had an old gipsy friend, who said: ”...you know mate, after the undertaking, after the pub, the garbage is the most stable business.”

I just hope my designs aren’t being boring otherwise my motive to create unique work will be in vain!

There’s enough here to accommodate different tastes.

If you ask me, its the stereotypical club flyers there are pretty boring. They all generally seem to contain the same elements and just assembled in various ways. Not that I’m a buyer, just my personal opinion.

I’ve noticed some very creative and unique designs lately. The likes of SeraphimChris, Ioswl and Minkki stand out for me.

Yeah I checked their stuff out and its pretty cool. The main point for this post is just to share my opinion on how I feel when people say that items are boring for not containing the predictable elements.

Boring or not, they wouldn’t exist if there weren’t a demand for them. It’s what sells, so as long as there are people to buy them, designers will create them.
