Critique request on my latest submission

Hi, i’m a newbie on GR and I’ve submitted only 2 items. I’ve read some posts here about the review method and the improvements that users ask.

Before starting make my latest submission (Retina App Icons Creator) I studied the GR portfolio to choose an item that would be interesting and could have something more compared to other items. Now, after 5 days of sales, it seems that my item doesn’t care much as I hoped (I was amazed seeing files, similar to mine, that in 1 month have been thousands of download), although i’m promoting it on various social networks.

Could you critique or review my file so I can learn something for the future designs? Thank you very much!

The main challenge is to create something very UNIQUE in my opinion.. Of course it’s difficult to create something unique and special, because there are plenty of amazing artworks out there.

Just look trough the libraries and if you can’t find anything like what you’d like to create, it’s going to be a Best-Seller, unless the file is usefull and of high quality!

There’s nothing wrong with your file – sometimes it takes some time to get some sales. But hey, the main target isn’t to become rich here, but to get better in what you’re doing and to find a lot of precious inspiration!

Hi twobrain Thank you very much for your opinion. I was just wondering if I could made something better to obtain more sales. It’s true that we are not here to became rich but sales makes us happy so since I am a newbie I am really interested to improve my work to make more sales.

I’ll wait studying the sales trend and at the end of the first month I’ll get conclusions about my first submission.

I will be frank with you. Your Retina App Icons Creator is a great job. It looks like neath and carefully designed. But there is a problem with the price. 8$, compare to other similar solutions on the market hm… just simply too much. This item is overpriced. And that’s not your fault.

Im also new… but as I have studies as a buyer…. what we always consider when buying an item is 1. Searching ability – most people visit only first 5 items 2. More items for the amount paid 3. Aesthatic quality 4. Preview quality 5. Variations and customization ability 6. Uniqueness

The most recent example was I was trieng to buy a mockup for my brochure, I searched and there were plenty of quality designs…....... one file has got 235 sales where the other file has got only 15 sales where both files has been submitted in the same day….... the item which has got 15 sales has only 3 brochure mockup variations and 4 visitng card variations…...... the thing is if the buyer needs a brochure mock up he gets only 3 variations if needed a card mock up he gets only 4 variations where specific card mockups are there with more than 10 variations in the similar aesthatic look…... so what I needed was a brochure mockup the other file which has got 235 sales had almost 9 mockup variations and the way he ha prsented it in the preview could attract me….. (It doesnt sound that the other one didnt attract) But the simple criteria for the decision was “The number of variations in the similar aesthatic quality” I think more than 90% visitors to these two brochure mockups has got my decision thats why that file had got 235 sales where the other file has got only 15 sales….............

In UI designs what I beleive is people cosnide rthe amount of items that they will get by purchasing it because there are plenty of similar quality items for free of charge but none of them provide a sufficient amount of items to fullfill a application requirement…....

Im still studing on this and Im only getting 1-20 sales arround yet….

Thanks to dekurvajo, I think that the price is right … why? Because someone buy an app icon design, probably has intention to sell his app so 8$ is a good solutions. On twitter or other social there are a lot of developer that has ability to make the engine of an app but they don’t care about design.

Thanks also to anchor_point_heshan, your opinion it’s really interesting. After 3/4 days I realized that my item was under “icon” main category but not under the right category. When envato changed this, selling began to rise. Now there are 2 pages of new item before my submission … I hope that people will do some click! Instead, I’am trying to get some review (I’ve changed the preview image) because I made 24 sales but … any stars!!!
