Friend can you told me step by step instruction how to do this. i do all things but not get extra spaceNEED HELP . Eager for Extra GB’s.
Simply upload 5 GB of media from your camera/usb device and when you see the little icon on the files, indicating that they’re uploading to Dropbox, delete them. Wait a little and you will get a pop up saying your space was increased.
The idea is that you don’t need to wait for them to upload to Dropbox.![]()
You get 500MB of space for every 500MB you upload. You can look at the links Joost posted in the original post for details.
After I uploaded the 5 gb, i can delete them?

Nope, upload to your computer – have it import 5GB of photo’s using the photo importer, and then when it has imported all, you can delete them regardless if they’ve been uploaded to the servers.
Hey thanks a lot, Joost! Just a note: you can do this in batches if you need to (I only had a 2gb flash drive on hand)
Not sure if it is just me, but I can’t seem to get the whole thing working at all.
I’ve installed the new version, tried coping files in there as well as doing “Import Pictures and Videos” (NB: I use a PC with Windows 7), and I still can’t get any of the free space.
I’ve also tried uninstalling Dropbox and reinstalling it. Still no luck.
Anyone got any hints?
Edit: I just found a USB with a bunch of photos on it, and it’s allowed me to import. Now waiting to see if my limit increases…

No need to wait for them to upload to the Dropbox servers, Kate.
Once imported (you can see the little blue sync icon on all files), just delete them and wait a little – you’ll get the pop-up saying you have more space

That’s what I thought I would need to do, but I had to actually wait for it to send them to the servers (and subsequently fill what I used to have as my limit) before I saw my limit increase. Doesn’t matter though – I got it sorted, and didn’t mind waiting a bit for them to send
