With facebook i think turnover isnt the interest, its the userbase. So i reckon your about spot on.

It’s big but nowhere near that big. They can hardly afford to buy a couple more devs.

Jup, it’s definitely about buying a userbase. DrawSomething was purchased by Zynga not long ago for 200mil – not because their app is such a technological revolution, but because 50 million people started playing the game in 3 months ;)

EDIT : Just saw that wickedpixel gave the same example on page 2 – still, the point stands: they’re not buying a company but mostly a userbase. A big, big userbase.
