Facebook Cover Images ?

Hello creative nation !

Been working a bit on a set of facebook covers to upload on GR.. But when testing it on my timeline, i discover some awful noise creeping all over my image.. I tried saving to PNG then uploading, nothing. BMP , nothing. I tried doubling the resolution, then quadrupling it. Nothing worked..

My proportions are 850×315px like everyone else.. Do all covers get distorted in this ugly way? Or are there some tricks to avoid this?

I’m sure I saw someone post that the width was 851.. but I could be incorrect. In regard to the noise, that’ll be facebook compressing the image

Image compression maybe the problem.

Did not work

When you upload the cover image, facebook will convert the image to jpg and lower its quality, so the resulting “noise” its normal…

Save the JPG or PNG at the highest quality possible and that should reduce the noise…of course you may already be doing this…

I use 851px for the width, but either ways it’s facebook that compresses the image

Oh well.. Seems to me, i’d have to rework my idea so that the noise impact would be minimal..
