Freelance Job

Hi we’re wondering whether this is possible to do or not? We’re looking for someone to help us with a little project we have. We want to create a range of cinemagraphs that have very subtle movements in them that are similar to the work by Jamie Beck and Kevin Burg.

Now as I understand it these are produced using a section of stills from a video. What we want to do is create something similar to this, but from still images. i.e take a .jpg image and add a slight subtle animation in the background or foreground that gives it a feeling similar to the examples.

For example we want to use this image of the moon landing and have a flag in foreground that subtly flaps, but still looks realistic and as if it belongs in the image

For another example, we would like this image to have the water in the background to glisten and flicker light as if it was a sunny day.

Whether this is possible to do using after effects I’m not sure? If any one is able to help us out on this one or give us an idea of how to do this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hard job, like making movies , who accept this job to work good luck! Btw do you have elements (water flag etc..) that need to be integrated on pictures? What is the budget? I think i can handle with “moon landing” but for others i’m not sure.

Hi! You’re right: cinemagraphs are usually produced using some frames of a video, but I got the same results using only a still img and then animating some subtle details with After Effects. You can see examples here:

That’s some cool work,nice and subtle.I guess they are made like avatars in in a gif file? yeah it’s a guess lol.

Expressodesign could you tell what file type they are if not a gif,I like how they incorporate into html.It’s something I’d like to learn but I’d probably find it easier using alpha channels then masks and layers.

The Kennedy one looks tricky given the quality of the picture but I’m sure the talent here at the hive will sort you out.
