Help with AI file please!

Hi guys,

Was working on a AI file, but am having a little trouble know with something

I’ve got a path with a white fill. This path should represent a hole for a LED -light.

Now, underneath that path are two more path with a yellow and black fill.

In photoshop you would just make a selection, click delete, go to the layer beneath and click delete and you have a hole in your shape.

How is this effect achiefd with AI?

If I’m getting it right,

Copy the white path and hit CTRL +f on your keyboard. It will paste the path at the same location.

Then select white path along with yellow path. Go to window>pathfinder if pathfinder panel is not already showing. In the shape mode in pathfinder panel, chose ‘subtract from shape area’.

Now select just the yellow path, right click and chose Arrange>Send to back.

Once again chose the white path but along with black path this time. Go to window>pathfinder if pathfinder panel is not already showing. In the shape mode in pathfinder panel, chose ‘subtract from shape area’.

Now select blue path, right click and chose Arrange>Send to back.

I’m not sure if this is the way it should be done or is it what you want to do. But anyways, let’s just try.

lol no problem. We’re here to help each other. In fact I was just a little nervous when posting that since it’s around an year I’ve left working in AI.
