I don’t know how many Germans are over here but I could put something solid together concerning this issue. For now: if you are a college student you go to the finance center, ask for a steuernummer and make sure you don’t make more than 7000 a year (total!). At the end of the year – tell the finance center the amount you earned-if it’s less than 7000 you are fine and you don’t pay any taxes
keep in mind that they can ask for paypal receipts etc for clarification

Not just college students- it’s called Kleinunternehmer-Regelung
PayPal isn’t reported to the IRS , but this is supposed to change in 2011 where they’ll report after your earnings have exceeded $20,000...
Is this cumulative? By that I mean do they take into consideration all income earned or only for a given fiscal year?
Edit:I just following the link to the article Proposed IRS Reporting Requirements Become Law, turns out its only for a given fiscal year
ArikB said:“We have no friggin clue since the money is received from outside the EU and it’s through the internet and it’s unclear what the heck you’re doing…
Is that quote verbatim or did you just ad lib?
I wanted to let everyone know that as I’m writing the blog article for this topic (read page 3 or 4 of this post), I’m doing a LOT of research and interviewing a few professional CPA ’s to give everyone a comprehensive answer on how taxes from Envato (anywhere online) are dealt with in the US. This topic certainly warrants a full and expert answer – and I’d encourage anyone who’s making a significant amount of $$$ from the marketplace to do a little research on their own too. Keep an eye out for the blog article though if you live in the US.
Thanks for your help on this….
If the question is about how to pay taxes, I have another one: how to avoid paying taxes?. Especially in Romania where taxes are used to fill some already rich guys’ pockets
.
Second that question …........
@rzepak if you plan to have incomes from FlashDen on regular basis every month then you have to establish your own company in Poland. There is no other way and it’s not only FlashDen but any business activity. When you’re doing something regular then you have to register yourself as an company.
I established my own company some time ago and it’s not so bad. You don’t have to pay VAT for incomes on FlashDen because it’s outside EU but you still have to pay 19% income tax.
p.s.
Przez pierwsze dwa lata dzialalnosci masz znizke na skladki ZUS i placisz aktualnie ok. 337,70PLN. (sorry for writing in polish but it’s about polish tax system and I’m not sure how to write about that one in english..)

Hi all.Do banks report to IRS PEOPLE how much money enters monthly to your bank account?
I am from Mexico and i don’t have a business registered so i wouldnt like to registerer if my FD monthly income is low.
:sYep – Can’t say with Mexico, but in the US, all banks are required to be fully transparent with your account details as I understand. I’ll be doing more research on this in the upcoming blog article though.
You only have to worry about the IRS trolling through your bank account if you get audited. That really only happens if you have some red flags on your returns, like claiming major deductions, losses, etc…
taxes?...what is this?...i’ll pay taxes only when textures and other small crap prices rise up to $20
I would really LOVE a bllog post on the Aussie taxes. When you go to withdraw your money it has a tick box for Australians, but im afraid to click it incase Kevin Rudd gets all my money
If anyone has the know-how could someone also talk about registering a business name and getting an ABN for a sole trader business in Australia? That would be awesome and im sure alot of startup freelancers would love to know it.
