Hi,

Currently I am paying $45 a month for an Enterprise solution on www.box.net

This is great. Everything works, but… I feel like I’m being stupid paying $45 a month for something that is really just online storage and issuing links. That’s over $500 a year, craziness!

I greatly prefer this method to FTP . My clients just need to click a link and they can go to the page and it downloads.

My hosting provider has unlimited webspace, so I’m wondering how complicated would it be to set up a facility on my website where people can do this? Is there any code on here that would do that?

Sorry if this appears like an easy thing to do!

What i understand from the post above is, you want to allow your clients to download files.

IS THATS IT ..???

Well, upload the file to any of the directory and then send the download link to your clients.

Simple Implementation :

1. Create a new sub-domain called “clients”

2. Upload the files to that directory

3. Send the download link to the client. THATS IT (you are done)

P.S : Lemme know if you need any help or detailed explanation. :bigwink:

Sorry, the above must seem really stupid! That I could do easily. I’d like to do something a bit more like in the style of Box.net.

i.e.

1) I receive an eMail telling me when the client has downloaded the file. 2) I would like a nice interface than just a blank screen, something more like a File Manager. If I had to send a client multiple files, I know I could make a ZIP file, but I’d rather give them a nice interface to browse through – and a place where they can revisit in the future.

Ok. Now it makes sense.

Though there are lot of file managers i don’t think any of those will suit your needs, if you can code i will suggest you to develop your own custom app or hire some one to do this for you.

Anyways, check these out
