Hey Haseeb,
you should go to your item page and click on the ‘Edit’ tab and you’ll be given a page to edit the details of your item.
In the ‘Message to Reviewer’ box, ask them to change the category of your item and click the Submit Files for Review button.
You may need to add a tag or something for the system to send your file for review, sometimes it doesn’t if you haven’t changed anything.
Haseeb,
I am a new author as well and I made the same mistake with my first file and wanted to change category after approval. It was a very slow process that ended up just wasting time.
As a person who just went through the same screw-up, I would strongly recommend deleting the file and resubmitting it as a new file in the correct category. I know…probably the last thing you want to do because you are excited to have something approved. But trust me, it will save you time and headache in the long run.
Just be sure to copy all of your descriptions and tags before you delete so you do not have to write everything all over again.
Write a note to the reviewer that the file has already been approved and you uploaded to the wrong category. The approval will probably go a little faster, as mine did.
Welcome!
edit: @quickandeasy He may not have that drop-down accessible in his edit window. I didn’t when I tried to re-categorize. I contacted support, resubmitted the thumbnail and wrote a note to the reviewer for a change of category, survived a hard disable, and a week and a half later…found myself resubmitting the entire file. Not at all suggesting that your method will not work, however, I found the process ineffective and frustrating.
Thanks quickandeasy and dvhughes
