I think, there’s no need to investigate obscure blogs check out wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lord's_Resistance_Army

As I say, when oil is not involved some people try make it look like a complex situation, and when oil is involved suddenly it becomes crystal clear. That’s funny..

I really don’t know if these guys are shady types but they managed to bring to situation to my attention. So, i support..

It’s always a complex situation… There are never black-and-white situations…

But, I agree on your statement – whenever/wherever there’s oil or anything other of interest to dominant world forces, situation suddenly becomes so “clear” and “straightforward”.

I admire this movement and will certainly help its cause. Time for sharing.

Some interesting questions here: http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/qlmti/iama_request_jason_russell_of_invisible_children/
You could also check out these to know about some other views or opinions and stats on expenses:
IC spending reports:

And this opinion/article is definitely worth reading: http://www.blackstarnews.com/news/122/ARTICLE/6586/2010-06-02.html

I won’t state my opinion as I haven’t shaped one 100%, but wanted to share more info. Without enough data, you can’t make conclusions. Whatever the facts are though, the organization has managed to promote a story that is worth knowing, that’s for sure.

I am definitely intersted in trying to help with this cause. It certainly looks ligit, but I have only just started looking into it. One thing I am going to do is start setting aside a dollar from each of my sales to donate to this cuase once I determine its ligitimacy. I know it’s not much, this is currently my only income. Anyway, if it is ligit, and if a good percentage of the proceeds are actually being used to support Kony’s arrest, I plan on supporting it and giving something back to the World.

What’s cool is that I have my first dollar set aside. I made a sale today!

As you can read from the articles posted in comments above mine, it looks like IC only gives 32% and uses the rest for filming videos and raising awareness. I am further researching the Non-Profit they mentioned in the video (T.R.I.), but I can’t find any information on them.

Just wanted to add, that such situations are pretty normal, other organizations simply cover it up more. Red Cross for instance says 90% goes to “relief”, but doesn’t specify what “relief” is. Transport, salary of relief workers, awareness campaigns, administration, and other various expenses can easily fall under that. The CEO of IC gets roughly 0.9% of what they make, which isn’t huge. About 80k a year if I remember correctly. While not bad, it’s hardly a massive salary for a CEO .

That said, do I support IC? I’m not sure yet. I do support this specific campaign, but not sure I want to support it with money to IC. However, considering that you get 25 posters for 5USD, anyone that has been printing posters before know that they really can’t be making much of a profit on that… in fact, I can’t even print 25 A4 full-color posters at my Design University for that price.

But I’ll personally wait and see where it goes, and then decide.

Oh, and one last thing: People should understand, that removing Kony from the picture isn’t the end-all be-all to the problems. We’re talking more of a “remove a major evil, to give power to a lesser evil” sorta situation.

Though I support the main motif here that the world should be better place tomorrow, I don’t think that this thread is suited on this forum. Mods ?
