Exactly! Doru, your story could have happened to you with all the manufacturers, Dell, Apple, you name it. There is always a small % that “does not work as advertised or within specs” and makes it to the stores, no matter what brand. You just got unlucky, I am sorry.

Sorry to hear that. It could have happen to anyone. Only problem I had with HP was a broke HDD on my first laptop – my guess is that Windows Vista broke it – but anyway, they changed on warranty. My second laptop was a HP too and did not have any problems.

ASUS is great too, I was never disappointed by them.

HP here too… he is 1 year old, he had to be cleaned of dust but other than that i am happy with HP. Will consider elite book for a future notebook. The probook that i have know is just what i expected it to be.

I lost trust towards HP (in general) due to a different reason. 4 years back, I had chance to make a Flash based help demo for their printer series. I never expected such a project can be got from an online freelancing website in an urgent manner. Their project was already half-done and spec / timeframe / and the quality of previous output was like ‘horrible’ and I felt like everything is bolted loosely.

I don’t think such things will ever happen to Apple or any other leading brands. It is obvious that unless a company doesn’t cares about small things, there could be big holes in their entire product. Not necessarily due to improper fabrication but the very design.

+1, Mostly this is the truth but Apple managed to change this theory.

I bought 2 laptops for my friends, and works great, but the only problem is when my friend playin a games such as PES 2012 , the laptops always die after couple minutes.

I was going to recommend Asus to you, but turns out you’ve already got one at the end of the story )

Now use HP notebook, and periodically hear such a metallic noise too, but I have no complaints for functionality yet. Hope i’ll change this device in the coming soon future

I have HP 620 , works like charm, i’m satisfied with price/performance.

Do you happen to know what was the HDD brand? My new Asus has Western Digital, probably HP put one low-class of them in your laptop, to lower the price.

I guess it’a a good idea to test the HDD and memory with some software tool before putting anything important (like your trust, or data) on a new machine.
