I agree with you on HP, i will never ever even look at one. honestly even an acer out performs HP and they are dirt cheap. Asus has been always good, think about it they made motherboards for everything before they started making their own brand of computers.

doru saidYes; that is one case. Another one is the “gpu penny shim” – but rather than melting the pins, the heat expands the connectors and causes them to unset themselves.

There is/was a major issue with certain gpus in HP laptops to get hot and “unseat” themselves.
I think HP is most famous for this cases because of their lack of sufficient cooling – their laptops exhibited this problem more often then other manufacturers.
