OpenCart theme - beginner

As a designer with no development experience, I’ve done a couple of WP sites and was able to get up to speed fairly quickly with some pre-existing themes. I have a client who wants a modest yet beautifully-designed site with ecommerce capabilities. I came across Phantom Shop here on ThemeForst which would be a good fit for my client, but I notice it’s an OpenCart template. My question: is OpenCart similar to WP in that a relative novice can build a site? Or do I need to be a developer? If I’ve done a simple WP site, will I be able to figure out an OpenCart theme?
