Currently we require that business cards just have a bleed, but we don’t specify which size. It seems like the standard bleed sizes are 1/8in (US) and 3mm (everywhere else). I’m guessing it sucks when you’re in the UK and end up buying a card that uses the US standards.
- Buyers, has this ever been an issue for you?
- Do you think it would be beneficial to require both bleed sizes?

Just recently one buyer ask me to change bleed size for her. It wasnt to much job, just create same document with deifferent bleed size and copy/paste in place everything else

I set the majority of indesign files with a 3mm bleed, and as of yet nobody has had an issue.

I’m not a print guy. Does a .1mm difference matter? Will some printers send it back if it’s mm vs. in?

As long as most of my printing items are in inches unit, I use 1/8 inch. And I haven’t received any request from buyer to change the bleed size yet .

I mostly sell business crads and flyers but i havent had any problems so far with bleeds.
