Does anyone add new layouts or tweek the designs of items in there portfolio? Just wondering how that would work, or even if its possible.

lots of Authors upgrade their items, it’s a great way to ensure compatibility with new softwares and also to add maximum value to your item.
Depending on what you update (whether the item description, source files or preview image, tags etc) depends on whether it needs to be reviewed.
Updating your item is really easy, simply go to your Portfolio or the individual item page and click on the edit tab. Once you’ve made your changes, simply hit ‘Submit for review’.

Hey thanks for the quick reply. If I upgrade some of my magazine templates will they need to be checked by a reviewer? Could the changes have any effect on the items price?

Yes, updating source files will require review.
If you sufficiently update your item and want a price inscrease, in the ‘Message to reviewer’ box just put a sentence asking if the reviewer would reconsider the price once the file is updated
