I am curious… Is it entirely drawn “by hand” or is it some sort of processing?

You can create something like this with Photoshop’s brush settings – “scatter” for the leaves and “color dynamics” for the trunk. The size variation is made with a tablet’s pressure sensitivity.

But good luck getting such a nice illustration easily, it takes a good eye to get something so nice
