The #Tag was put there incase a business used the background and wanted to list an easy way for people to talk about them on twitter, rather than @.
For example, if Apple used it, they could list #iphone, #ipod, #mac, etc as hash tags people could use when talking about something specific 
Not something everyone has to use, but its just an extra list item
