Hi – I’ve run this action on a background layer starting on the “area” layer which has my selected area colored in, all the lights are the same color and only multicolor lights are selected. I’ve rerun the action several times and cannot generate the multicolor lights.
Hello! If I understood your message correcly after finishing, the image has only one color of christmas lights, right?
The reason of this problem is that the patterns file isn’t loaded. Please make this step again: https://youtu.be/2u6RntnbK1E?t=211
And after that please play the action again.
How do I remove the darkness that has been added to my background image? Cheers
I figured it out thanks
Thanks for update!
Is it possible to have my lights 3 different colours – eg. yellow, green and red? Or similar? Thanks
Hello! The result must be with 3 different colors. If is not, the reason of the problem is that the patterns file isn’t loaded. Please make this step again: https://youtu.be/2u6RntnbK1E?t=211
Also you can watch this part of a video tutorial to see how to customize a colors of lights: https://youtu.be/2u6RntnbK1E?t=1074
Thank you for this awesome action! It was used flawlessly for one of my photos last week, but now it will not complete on any of my photos. It says “Warning: No Pixels are Selected”. I have installed the brushes, patterns, and obviously the action. I confirmed that the photo is flattened with “Background” locked, and the “area” layer selected. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling them. Any advice? I am running Photoshop CC 19.0 release on a Mac.
1.Please make sure that you paint the area with Christmas lights only on “area 2” layer.
2. Make sure that you use a photo with good quality.
3. Before painting the area, please make sure that Opacity and Flow values of Brush Tool is 100% and that the Normal mode is selected.
4.Try to delete Christmas Lights action and than to load the action again.
5. Try to load a patterns file again using Presets Manager.
If these recommendations will not help you, please send me a fullscreen screenshot with your first error? Please note that I need to see a full workspace of your Photoshop in the moment when the error shows. My e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org
Thank you! It was the Flow value of the brush tool! Sent it back to 100 and worked like a charm! Thank you again, this is a great action!
How do I brush the effect off the face of my subject? which layer to I adjust?
Hello! You can see how to adjust a result in this part of a video tutorial: https://youtu.be/2u6RntnbK1E?t=533
Actually you can erase any elements of the effect. Just select one of the main folders and go to: Layer->Layer Mask->Reveal All. After creating a mask, please select a brush tool with black color and than just paint where you want to erase the effect.
Hello, I am applying this effect to a few buildings, however, the lights appear way to big on the building and they don’t look realistic. I love everything else about the effect! Just would like to get the lights to be a bit smaller to fit the scale of the building. Thanks
To make the size of lights smaller you need just to increase the resolution of your photo. For example you have a 3000px wide image. Open your image and go to: Image->Image Size and change width value to 5000px. After that please play the action again.
I guess I cant delete my comment but got it to work after all.
Glad to see that
I just bought it and tried to open it after I opened the image and it didn’t allow me to.
I’m not sure what do you mean.
Can you send me more details with this problem on my email address: email@example.com
I bought the Christmas Lights Photoshop Action Tools and followed the instructions provided in txt file and the youtube tutorial but there is something not working.
I emailed you the screenshot with the error messages received when I run the action.
Issue solved, I did not create the layer background
Thanks for informing me!
HELP! I cannot seem to get any further than creating my “area” and “area 2” layers. I load the xmas tree lights action just as informed to do and use the correct brush, but when i press play, i have a consistent pop up saying, for example “the command “select” is currently unavailable”, “the comment merge layer is currently unavailable, “the command “delete is currently unavailable” ... I decided to go with the last optional resort and do each step manually, still didn’t make sense. YOUR GUIDANCE WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED!
@jekoppel that happened to me because I had several other layers above my background layer and then it finally worked once I merged everything as the background layer. do you have several layers other than area and background?
@jekoppel @Eugine-design I have the same problem..
@sheilandesign I have the same problem as @jekoppel but I don’t have any other layers than area and background
