Will this template work with more current versions of InDesign such as 5.5?

It’s InDesign only. Doing a job like this in photoshop would not be a good way to work. It would help to have a basic knowledge of InDesign but there are instructions included to help you out. You can also contact us with any questions or problems you might have and we’ll be happy to help
I am unable to change the magazine name on the cover, it seems permanent. How can I replace it with my own logo/masthead?
You can change the masthead through the master pages. As it is an element on the master page you cannot edit it on the document page. If you’d like to delete it and replace it with your own logo you can put your own on either page.
