Realistic wooden text effects

Included: - Hi-res .jpeg files (800×1200); - 2 sets of .asl styles consisting of 8 styles; - 2 layered editable clearly labeled .psd files.

Realistic wooden layer styles are great for text effects, for background and any wooden objects, including icons. There are 8 different colors representing different species of wood – chestnut, wenge, light oak, walnut, cherry, red wood, mahogany, and natural color. Every wood species is represented in 2 kinds – polished and dented, so there are 16 total styles.

Included 2 sets of Photoshop styles – polished wood for elegant effect, and dented wood for older textured effect. Each set consists of 8 styles of various color and wood species. Two sets of styles (polished_wood.asl and dented_wood.asl) are in the “Styles” folder. Installation process is explained in description document.

Included 2 layered and easily editable .psd files – for polished wood and for dented wood separately. Each .psd contains layered wooden background group, wooden text group, and wooden objects group. Every layer is labeled, it is easy to copy and paste the effect to another document (right-click on the source layer -> copy layer style; right click on target layer -> paste layer style). Psd files are in “Layered_psds” folder.

Free fonts used: - Tahoma - Cooper - Poplar Std - Gilles sans - Bauhaus 93 - Impact - Georgia - Century Gothic

Where and how to use? These effects are great for plain surfaces and large bold fonts (about 100 pt), but they look good on smaller fonts as well. To scale the effects, edit the text in psd file, change it’s size or transform it using options panel (enter the number in % of how much you want the text scaled down in W and H fields). Then apply the transformation and go to Layer -> Layer style -> Scale styles, and enter the same number in %. This way the text will be scaled down proportionally along with the effects.
