Surfing Magazine - 8 page - 4 layouts

The template contains three separate double page magazine spreads, a front cover and extra page for news and short articles.

I have set the theme as a surfing magazine however, the basic grid structure and layout will lend its self to a number themes i.e, food, property, sports, holidays etc.

All three double page spreads are set to A3 size (11.7×16.5inches). Complete with linked text boxes, guides and supporting graphics. The front page is set at A4 (8.3×11.7), as is the news articles page

General details:

  • 3mm bleed
  • CMYK swatches
  • Grid based layout
  • Well organised text and image frames for easy editing.
  • Automatic page numbers set – every time a spread is created or duplicated the page numbers update automatically.
  • Layout details:

    Front page – Based on a three column structure with space for a title, issue number, price, date, web address, 4 teaser articles, full page image and barcode. 3mm bleed. Place for 1 large image.

    King of the Waves Layout – Three column structure with space for a title and quote. 3mm bleed. Page numbers set. Space set for large image (left hand page) Design is meant for an interview or similar article.

    Surfing spread – Based around three column structure with space for a title, introduction and pullout quote. 3mm bleed. Page numbers set. Space for 4 images. Also comes with grunge borders to place around the photographs (vectors contained within the Indesign file).

    Sunset spread – Two column structure with space for a title, introduction, photograph caption and outro. 3mm bleed. Page numbers set. Place for large image.

    News article page – Three column structure with space for a title, introduction, 5 articles and outro. 3mm bleed. Page numbers set. Place for 2 images. Also contains a flower vector within the page itself.

    All details for downloading fonts and images are included within the read me file. Some fonts used are free and some are already included with InDesign. All images are free and available for download.
